The Utica Catholic Book Store
was founded in 1901 by the Holland brothers, Jeremiah, Timothy, and Michael with the store’s first location at 204 Bleecker Street in downtown Utica. George E. Holland, a cousin of the founding family, and Alfred E. Trosset of Utica, acquired the business in 1912, jointly operating it for several years. Alfred E. Trosset became the sole proprietor of the business which has been operated by the Trosset family to the present day.
Throughout the years, most members of the Trosset family have been involved the business, but it was Alfred’s son Richard (Dick) who expanded the retail store to include a church supply business, known throughout New York State as Trosset Church Supply. Dick died peacefully on May 21, 2015, but the Trosset family has chosen to continue Dick’s legacy by managing the business with the same care, quality and service as provided by three Trosset generations since 1912.
